The UC San Diego Division of Hospital Medicine fellowship is a one or two year, non ACGME program, that integrates a robust medical education curriculum, mentorship and scholarship, with opportunity for leadership skill growth within clinical operations and business administration. A multifaceted approach is used to develop learners’ clinical reasoning, teaching, and research skills via core and elective rotations, teaching opportunities, frequent didactic sessions, research, and structured mentorship.
A Word From the Program Director:
Welcome to UCSD’s Hospital Medicine Fellowship Program! I am pleased to offer two tracks for fellows to choose from, each of which has different focuses. Within each track, the curriculum will allow learners to strengthens the skill and knowledge for a successful and well- rounded career in academic hospital medicine. My goal for each fellow is to leave having a master understanding of certain topics not highlighted during residency including healthcare system leadership/management, quality improvement/clinical research, and advanced clinical and teaching skills. By having an agreement with the Rady School of Management, fellows have an opportunity to apply and complete a subsidized executive MBA program over two years if desired in order to facilitate different career trajectories and leadership. Each fellow will certainly feel a part of our UCSD Hospital Medicine family with our guided mentorship and coaching program. We are so excited to have you!
