The UC San Diego Division of Hospital Medicine fellowship is a one or two year, non ACGME program, that integrates a robust medical education curriculum, mentorship and scholarship, with opportunity for leadership skill growth within clinical operations and business administration. A multifaceted approach is used to develop learners’ clinical reasoning, teaching, and research skills via core and elective rotations, teaching opportunities, frequent didactic sessions, research, and structured mentorship.
A Word From the Program Director:
Welcome to the Hospital Medicine Fellowship at UC San Diego Health! We are proud to offer an academically oriented and innovative training program within a quaternary care hospital system that serves a large and diverse patient population. Our fellows have the option to focus their training on the particular content area that will best serve them in their future leadership career while advancing strong clinical skills.
We are pleased to offer a completely subsidized executive MBA through Rady School of Management to prepare our fellows for a career in healthcare leadership and entrepreneurship. This two-year option allows fellows the opportunity to pursue scholarship and projects under the guidance of physician leaders which will allow them to develop an area of specific interest.
Within each track, the continuously updated curriculum prepares our graduates for a future in academic hospital medicine and healthcare leadership . My goal for each fellow is to obtain a master understanding of the complex care of hospitalized patients, which includes triage, medical management, care coordination and safe transitions of care.
We welcome you to join our bright, diverse and energetic UCSD Division of Hospital Medicine family. Fellows can expect a formal structure for guided mentorship, research, quality improvement, assessments and feedback. We are so excited to have you!
