Academic Profile

Dr. Jay Varughese earned his MD degree at Ross University School of Medicine and his hematology / oncology fellowship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 2009.

Dr. Varughese completed his residency in internal medicine at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 2006.

Before he joined the Hospital Medicine faculty at UCSD in 2009, Dr. Varughese had clinical and research experience in an arteriovenous (AV) fistula thrombosis and thrombophilia/renal allograft loss quality improvement project in 2008 and an epidural anesthesia/von Willebrand disease study at the Comprehensive Hemophilia Treatment Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey.
